Flashcards & Quiz

Turn any note into AI-powered flashcards and quizzes. Study, self-test, and share your decks with others — all without leaving the Notes editor.

Overview

Flashcards & Quiz uses Gemini AI to analyze your notes and generate study material automatically. Each deck contains flip cards for study mode and multiple-choice, true/false, and fill-in-the-blank questions for quiz mode.

AI-Generated

Gemini reads your notes and creates cards and questions that match the content.

Study & Quiz

Flip through cards to memorize, then switch to quiz mode to test yourself.

Shareable

Create a link so anyone can study your flashcards or take the quiz.

Generating Flashcards

  1. Open any saved note and click Flashcards in the toolbar (between Hotkeys and AI).
  2. Choose the number of cards (5–30) and a difficulty level (easy, medium, or hard).
  3. Click Generate Flashcards. Gemini analyzes your note content and produces cards and quiz questions.
  4. The deck is saved automatically — you can close and reopen it any time from the same modal.
Longer, more detailed notes produce better flashcards. If your note is mostly headings or bullet points, consider expanding key concepts before generating.

Study Mode

Study mode presents cards one at a time. Click or press Space to flip a card and reveal the answer. Navigate with arrow keys or the on-screen buttons.

Shuffle

Randomize card order to avoid memorizing sequence.

Self-Grading

Rate each card as Easy, Good, or Hard to track your progress.

Quiz Mode

Switch to Quiz using the toggle at the top of the overlay. Quizzes include three question types:

  • Multiple Choice — select from four options.
  • True / False — decide if a statement is correct.
  • Fill in the Blank — type the missing word or phrase.

After answering all questions you'll see a score summary with correct/incorrect breakdowns and explanations.

Sharing Flashcards

Inside the flashcard overlay, click the Share button to generate a public link. Anyone with the link can study the cards and take the quiz — no account required.

To disable sharing, click the share button again and toggle it off. Existing links will stop working immediately.

Tips

  • Use the Hard difficulty for exam prep — questions will require deeper understanding.
  • Generate multiple decks from the same note at different difficulties for progressive study.
  • Press Escape to seamlessly return to the editor.
